Default Aftermarket upgrade coolant pump throwing code

I keep getting a code and I'm assuming that's why my engine light is on constantly now. P-023A-13 "Charge air cooler coolant pump control - circuit open" Its the one I got from paramount performance I believe that pumps 50% more coolant. I can see it and it's plugged in and It is definitely on and running I can hear it as well. Anyone have issues after upgrading?

No but I am running the old standby Bosch 010 pump.
Maybe swap back to the OEM pump to see if the code goes away?

If the pump is not doing it's job you should be able to put the car into heat soak fairly easy but it might be too cold outside.
Any performance problems?

no I haven't noticed performance issues. well I say that and when I punched it the other day it blew that small expansion tank hose fitting off the large aluminum line right center of the engine It may be that Y pipe that has the fitting going into it. But I think that was bc that clip could of been cracked a touched. I swore said you upgraded the pump bc you told me about it? Dont you have to take the front bumper back off to access that pump ? I really dont like the thought of doing that again.

Yes I recommend upgrading the pump. No downside other than cost.

It's up to you but I just had my front bumper cover off yesterday replacing some broken plastic from road debris damage. It's just a whole lot easier once it's removed. I do have a 2 post lift so working on my car is now a pleasure compared to crawling around on the concrete!

I don't remember as you did not post your car info but the later cars used a different pump. So there are 2 wire and 3 wire IC pumps and they do not interchange.
Looks like the later cars got a variable speed IC pump using 3 wires to PWM the speed. The earlier cars used a simple 2-wire set up that was either on 100% or off 100%.

Yes that clip has been reported to crack so if bad replace it before it blows off again. It might not be serviced separately and if so then you will need to purchase the entire coolant hose assembly.

The new hose came in today its in the mailbox but we are covered in snow so trying to figure out how to get down a half mile driveway with all this sno. I envy those with a mailbox 10 yards from your house !

Has anyone tried a true split cooling setup for our cars? This is a common mod for the M113K equipped Mercedes cars.

So I check the wiring it’s for sure pumping but the XJ pigtail has 3 wires as opposed to the 2 new pump. Any way to remedy this code ?

You have the wrong pump?
As I posted above the early cars use a 2 wire IC pump but later Jaguar went to a 3 wire PWM controlled IC pump.
I am surprised it's working at all?

Maybe post some picture of the OEM pump and the one you installed?

I got the one off of paramount performance that was specified for the XJ/XJR it was the one you sent me a link to with the intercooler. I even talked to their customer representative. Could you give me a link of the correct upgraded one ?

I guess I am confused?
Your link is a 2 wire pump and I can tell by looking at it it's the old standby Bosch 010 pump. You say your car has only 2 wires?
But you mention 3 wires up thread?
Where are these 3 wire plugs at? Are they on your car?
Maybe post some pictures because everything will connect?

no I do have 3 wires in my car. but the pump I have is 2 wires. you saying thats an older pump ? The 2 wire pump is connected to my 3 wire pump and it works. didnt realize there was a difference in wiring since they were advertising these as XJ upgrades. You think this is maybe why the radiator fans arent coming on potentially also ? any thoughts on that ?

I am putting the oem pump back on.to see if that code goes away but also to see if that third wire communicatees with the fans. Ill report back. I just have a sneaky suspicion that it does. could easily be wrong. but I bet since its a variable speed pump that the voltage is in line with the fans as well varying them also. let you know this afternoon or tonight.

Can you post a picture of the OEM pump?
I don't understand how the car can have a 3 wire plug but the pump is only 2 wire? Is the 3rd wire not connected? These are integrated plugs so you can't swap between 2 and 3 pin plugs?

Yes there are uprated IC pumps for the XJ in both 2 and 3 wire versions.
