Default Air conditioning problem

Just out of warranty and the A/C isn't working properly. There is cool air coming out, but only slightly cold. Does not matter what A/C fan speed it is at and all the vents are same temperature. Does anyone know where the interior cabin temperature sensor is located? I will try to clean it before going to an A/C specialist or dealer. I checked to make sure the condenser wasn't plugged up with leaves and debris. Not much or any info on X351 A/C issues.

My bet is that you are low on R-134. Put a gauge to it to verify.

Took the car to an A/C specialist and left it for a day. Got a call that all the pressures were good and everything checks out and is working perfectly. Wierd! Before I took it in, it would barely get cold. Now it works perfectly. Been working great for the last two weeks. Well that was a cheap fix.

What, if anything, did he do (other than check pressures)?

Are you sure you had the compressor engaged? It's easy to accidentally tap the center of the temperature knob button and turn it off. The center of that knob illuminates to show that the AC is ON.

Stuart I did have the compressor on. The center button was lit and I also engaged the two side buttons. I did have the dash buttons replaced as a whole unit due to the sticky buttons issue under warranty. Working fine still! Luckily I have an honest A/C shop near me that is capable of fixing anything a/c. They told me there was plenty of freon and don't let anyone add any. Lynn's Auto Air in Downey CA.

Solved The problem was the radiator fan went out. The A/C went out again and the temp warning came on. I noticed that the electric fan was not coming on. Took it to a Jag specialist and they confirmed it was the electric fan not working and and not the climate control or the compressor. Replacing the fan seems to have fixed the problem. Changed the engine oil too, just to be safe.

Thank you so much for coming back with the solution!
This is critical for our forum as there will be others with the exact same problem.

With the complexity of the car I am surprised the fan failure did not set some sort of code?

Is there one or two cooling fans?
I am a new XJ owner.

Does anyone has a schematic for the air ducts in the dashboard?
Why I ask for them
Last time I visited a shop with the Jag, the mechanic told me that in the left part of the dash, left hand drive, he looked from under the dash, around the area where you plug the diagnosis, and around the nd there is a slot, where the air duct blows air. Just over the left foot rest place, near the A pillar. And he told me that the duct… end that is down in the dash board, is loose. Like not connected, on both ends. Like at the exit from the dash board is just loose, and its just hanging there because at the author part of the pipe its loose also. So the ending part of the air duct is.… not really attached.… inside the dash. And I am curious about….. How its possible, are there clips, or any type of info…. Pictures…. Schematics, that could show me what to look for. Because winter is gone and could look it up.
So…. Any Info is appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Just get in the car and remove the panel under the steering wheel. Report back with what you find.
