Default Air conditioning - Remove Condenser on XJ 351

Hi,

my Car make some litle problem I refilled the air conditioning system fluid in a workshop. After that it was nice and cool in the car for 2 days.
But now it's not getting cold anymore. According to the workshop in the Condenser defective.
Is there a guide on how to swap them out? I took a careful look inside, but I'm not sure what exactly I have to dismantle and replace.
Its a XJL 2011 385PS

the eogflip, do you have a vacuum pump? That is going to be a REQUIRED tool for this. Simply getting the system intact and then dumping in freon is going to net you probably the same condition, if not something worse. A freon system has to be pulled to a fairly good vacuum (normally want to go as high as possible but anything over 28 inches is adequate). This check does 2 things for you. The bigger one is proving that the system is intact and not leaking. So, you should be able to draw the vacuum and then shut the suction valve and you should be able to maintain the vacuum for atleast 30 minutes (should not drop by more than 2 inches). The second being that oxygen (air in general) causes excess compression in the system and you are not compressing the freon like it needs to be. Hence why you don't get good cooling if you just fill the system without evacuating it first.

As for how to remove the condensor, sounds like you have a path forward on that. The big thing is making sure you keep all the fins straight. This would be a good time to comb the fins if you have spots where the fins are bent to the side. This will ensure you have the maximum flow through the condensor, leading to maximum cooling.

Good advice from Thermo!
I would add that I try to keep a piece of cardboard over the fins as long as possible to prevent damage. I duct tape flat cardboard on both sides until it's installed.
Yes remove the front bumper for added working room. It's dead simple and opens things up a lot!

We don't see that part fail? Was there a leak somewhere? Be sure and check that there is a desiccant bag in the dryer tube. It should come with a new one but again it's simple to check BEFORE installation!
I have circled it in red. There is a hex plug on the bottom of the tube and bag is inside the tube.

Since yours is NA you don't have the inter-cooler pump in the way either.

I have the same problem with my X351 SC 5.0. I need to remove the AC condensor. Do you have video or instrructions?

The AC condensor is removed from below. The undertray on the bumper needs to be removed, above that is another cover that needs removing - the bottom of the condenser is now visible. This will need to be done on ramps or you may not have enough clearance.

The next steps may or may not challenge - removing the pipes, on mine the top pipe was siezed solid - corrosion between the bolt and the pipe fitting. I ended up taking off the entire front bumper cover simply to get access (not necessary if the pipes come out easy.

Once the pipes are off there are two 10mm nuts one at each side, one of mine was completely corrosion jacked and took an hour to remove, you don't want to destroy the intercooler which is what the condenser mounts on, once they are off simply pull the bottom of the condenser to clear the studs it sits on - it rides within two u shaped brackets at the top so when you put it back make sure to get the new condenser in proplerly.

I'd take some pics but the front of my car is currently 'missing' though I may be able to get some of the re-assembly in a week or two as I've decided to replace cam belt, fuel pump belt and also replace some other bits.

The system in the X351 is a little more complicated than the old standard AC. It has a variable displacement compressor that can throw old-school AC shade tree mechanics off the trail.
It has to have the correct amount of refrigerant BY WEIGHT in it, or it won't work right.
My wife's 2012 XJ AC is getting weak too, and while I've replaced auto AC compressors & condensers, filters, dryers orifice tubes in convention AC systems. But with these, I'd pay the dealership (not even a specialized AC shop) to do it right.
I'm planning to call the Tampa dealership (I prefer Crown Jaguar in Clearwater, but Tampa Jaguar replaced the motor mounts before for a reasonable price) to find out how much they will charge & schedule the job. I plan to get the compressor and condenser (Four Seasons or Nissens) from Rock Auto.
These cars are worth (to me) doing right, and with a variable displacement compressor, it's not just an easy DIY.
For my 2012 Land Rover Range Rover with the same system, I bought a new compressor & condenser from Rock Auto, took them to the local dealership & paid them to do the installation right. That was about 3 or 4 years ago, & it works great. It was around $1000 labor & small parts for the dealership to do it & I don't regret that one bit (although a couple of the small consumable part prices was a bit high).
