Default Air Filters

I recently had an oil change on my 2014 XJL Portfolio 3.0, which has 27,450 miles. The dealership inspection advised a "caution note" regarding the air and cabin filters. The dealership gave me an estimated price for the air filter replacement of $172.60 and for the cabin filter, $95.40. I've changed air filters myself or had air filters installed in the past (previous vehicles: 1988 Linc Town Car, 1992 Linc Town Car, 1998 Linc Mark VIII and 2005 Jaguar XJ8L.) I guess I'm not that concerned about the price of the cabin filter, but what is the issue where this air filter change is just shy of $200? Why so much?

My dealer wanted to change my air filters for 152.00. I went to O'Reilly car parts, got the filters and changed them myself for about $35.00. It took me about a half an hour. You will need a TORX socket though.

If you don't want to drive to your nearest auto store try Amazon and you'll find the filters, free shipping with prime.
