Default Alarm problems with my 2010 model XJ

I'm experiencing problems with my alarm whereby it is intermittently going off. It has happened about four times in a week and this is since I had a new passenger door latch fitted.

I'm just wondering if that's anything to do with it.

The only thing I pressed my boot button the other day to open it and the alarm sounded. I think it's done this before but very rarely when opening the boot, so not sure if this is related or not.

Just wondering if anyone else has had alarm issues.

Kind Regards

If it only happened after fitting the new latch then that is a good place to start.

Was the latch a new part, or a used replacement? If used it may have been removed because the ajar switch had failed (which is what triggers the alarm). If new then assuming the harness was connected correctly it may just need the metal loop on the car body to be adjusted slightly to ensure the latch fully engages in position 2.

Have you seen a "passenger door open" message at all when using the car and the door should be shut?

A scan with SDD (dealer diagnostics) will tell you the reason why the alarm was triggered for the last 10 triggers. If you get stuck that may help.

Hi Dave

Many thanks for the info. The latch was fitted by my Jaguar Dealer and was a new one.

It hasn't done it for a few days but they're going to take a look at it tomorrow.

Many thanks for the info regarding the diagnostics and viewing of the alarm triggers. Hopefully it will show up.

Kind Regards
