Best way to stop an actual start - sitting for a couple of years
I have what was supposed to be a parts 2012 XJL SC. This weekend, I started reevaluating it as it is a higher trim level than my other 2011 XJL, plus it has 15k less miles and already has the metal coolant pipes upgrades. The interior is really trashed and needs a thorough cleaning, but that is no problem. My daughter and I detail on the side. I realized that the state I thought it was in may have been based on incorrect facts. I started it one single time when it was delivered 2 summers ago and it sounded like crap, but since it was supposed to be parts only, I killed it and never started it again. Taking a more level headed look at it, I think it might be better than I thought. I do know it has an oil leak somewhere, but nothing crazy. I remember seeing it dripping when it was running before.
I have plans on trying to start it again, but do know that I have some preparatory steps to take beforehand. I am sure the fuel is not in the best shape, though I have had fuel sitting for the same amount of time and be fine. I do plan on pulling the oil and changing it and the filter first. Since it has been sitting for this amount of time, I want to build up oil pressure first, so I want to force it to crank, no start. What is the best way to kill fuel so I can crank it a few times to build up pressure? If I press the accelerator pedal and hold it when starting, will that kill the fuel? Or should I just pull a fuse? I also have SDD access and my D7 has special functions, so not sure if I can disable it that way. Though that prospect isn't as desirable to me. Thanks!

Full throttle should enable flood clear and not supply fuel, but I can't say for certain if it actually works. You could pull the power to the pump, pull the fuel line to the engine to release pressure, and crank it that way. Otherwise short of unplugging the injectors I don't know of a sure way to crank it to prime it.
