Unhappy Chasing Steering Wobble/Shake at 120km/h+ 2013 3.0 AWD

Hi all,

I've been the proud owner of a 2013 XJ for a couple of months now in Toronto. Fantastic car, just driving me a bit crazy with this wobble I've been getting.

Symptoms are feeling a minor wobble in the steering wheel when coasting at slower speeds (50-60km/h), and more present with the steering wheel shaking at highway speeds of 120-140km/h (74-88mph). I do feel the shaking in the body, and can physically see the pass seat or my water bottle shaking when driving. The car does have a slight pull to the left driver side as well.
I do feel the wobble when I hit the brakes at those speeds often as well, not all the time.
I have changed out both front lower control arms (wishbone) and front upper control arms. The wheels have been straightened and road force balanced. I have had another set of rims + tires that were straightened and road force balanced swapped on as well. Shaking still continued. No clunks out of the suspension. I do feel the steering wheel wobble when I hit a bump in the road.

Does anyone have any idea what the cause may be or a place to start looking?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Good troubleshooting and I was going to suggest replacing the front "banana" arms but you already have done that. The extra set of rims and tires eliminated that as the problem. How many miles on the car?

I assume it has been aligned after the work? Can you post the before and after readings? Or was the car OK before and after the work so no adjustments were called for?
After all you have done I would be asking some alignment/suspension shops for help?

Long shot?
There is a rubber disk sometimes called a giubo and they do wear and can cause vibration. So maybe look at the drive shaft? You can get the rubber disk separately BUT not from Jaguar as they only service the complete drive shaft at a very high price.

These types of problems are so hard to troubleshoot without throwing the parts cannon at them.

It's possible there is play in the inner or outer steering rack tie rods. Maybe even the steering rack has an issue. It could be engine mounts and/or transmission mount letting the heavy engine wobble around while driving or going over bumps.

check that previous owner have not been painting the area on brake disk facing wheel and they are clean. (on wheels as well)
Just fixed one S500 what suffered constant vibrations and owner was going to sell it after changed everything on suspension. Scraped surfaces clean from paint somebody added there and all was well. Owner had some moist on his eyes on test drive.

Also x351 is very sensitive for aligment. Many workshop don´t understand it and don´t put exact values. Instead they go for "green" area what is offered by machine and that is not accurate enough.

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the late replies, I've been a bit busy.

@clubairth1 Thank you. It currently has 145,000KM (90,000mi). Believe it or not, I was turned away from 2 shops in my area lol, however I did have an alignment completed today. I'll attach a pic to this reply.
I have reached out to nearby shops to no avail, Jaguar dealers in the Toronto are are not cheap for diagnostic, but that may have to be my last resort.
@lotusespritse Got it. I'm hoping to have it booked in with the same specialist I have been going to next week, will definitely pass over these pointers. I am kinda suspecting engine/transmission mounts. Have a little shake at idle, jutters slightly with the auto start/stop... hmm.. just maybe...
@Vasara Wow. I have taken a close look at the brakes, all seems well with no painting, might be worth a shot. I attached a picture of the before and after, does that look about right?

I appreciate the insight from everybody. I'm still all ears for suggestions though haha. Will update here if anything changes. Thanks again
