Considering a X351
Hello X351 owners. I owned a 2005 XJR for 5 years that i picked up as a salvage and repaired. It is great car. I am a DIYer and have not only repaired it from the fire damage but have done several mods to it myself. . 3Lb super charger pulley, Caldoofy intake tube, improved inter cooler pump, eliminated the catalytic converters and replaced the center resonators with a Magna-flow X-pipe. Soon will be installing a Ford 8.0 with LSD.
I really like this car but love the looks of the X351 and would love to have a Supercharged version of one. However, I have recently came across a 2011 Xj8L pretty cheap that peaks my interest. The car has 116K miles and the owner states that the car does not run, Don't know if any codes are present or have had the opportunity to check as to what is wrong with the car.
Decided to research the forum to see if I can at least get an idea of what i am getting into should I try to buy it,
I see water pumps are an issue and if they ran it hot, motor could be shot, I also see that the injectors could be an issue can be an expensive repair.
I am thinking I could get this car for $5,000 or less. but I am not will to put $5,000 into fixing it.
Any thought from the X351 owners?
Thank in advance

Without knowing what is wrong with the engine, this is a real big crap shoot. If you can get it for say $5000, then at a minimum you can make your money back selling the parts. I would say that a look at the car and more discussion with the current owner would be needed. I would also ask what were the conditions when the motor stopped working. If it worked one day and won't start the next, that could be something very simple. If they were cruising down the highway and it started to overheat and now it won't run, that is a completely different thing. More information is needed to say yeah or nah.
