Default Driver passenger side rear footwell leaking?please help

Car year n model
- XJ 2016 3.0 deiselV6
rear footwell on the driver side is soaked with water,
seals on the doors seem fine,
I did catch the boot release button months ago and the boot got rained in,I dryed all that out and it’s still dry.
Wonder if there’s any chance that could of found it’s way forward and it been sat like that awhile?
I hadn’t noticed with the kids seat being on that side.

Nice color!
I don't think I've seen a red XJ.

The bottom seat cushion in the rear is fairly easy to remove. Like most cars, you push the cushion rearward, then lift up. Maybe you'll see moisture evidence and a trail from the trunk area.
Another possibility is clogged drains of the sunroof.

Thanks Iv pulled the rear carpets back and squeezed most the water out,
the footwell does appear closed off from the boot I’ll check the sunroof drains.it’s a funny one never had this problem before.
be worried about mould forming will have to keep an eye on it.
do love the red and black combo thanks
only had the car 6months changed the front discs n pads and serviced myself then had timing belt done.for 78k it’s in great condition just trying to keep it that way 😄

There is no timing belt, unless you had the engine replaced with a Honda, Nissan or something like that (to be fair, maybe a Volvo)..

The V6 Diesel has a timing belt. V6 and V8 petrol have chains.

Ah - a diesel (as you described in your initial post). My mistake.
Without a location or other common info in your signature block, I lost track of which engine this post was about - and didn't revert back to the details in the initial post.
Never mind.

So I found the leak it’s coming in through the drivers side front were the wires come through,it looks like the rubber gasket has been put back badly as a result damaged it.
Iv used a black silicone from Halfords to see if this stops it.as I dry out the carpet and foam..
