Default Engine air filter bewilderment

I just bought a 2015 XJL 3.0 AWD. I always change the air filter after purchasing a used car so as usual I bought a new air filter and opened the hood and huh??? Are there two engine air filters on this car? One far left and one far right? The air filter boxes look like they are screwed shut with security screws (the star screws). Is there any way to replace the air filters in your driveway or has Jaguar effectively caused me to hire them to do it? Thanks!

You can change the filters yourself. It takes a T20 torx bit as i recall. These are available at all auto parts places and hardware stores. Replacement is just like any other car. Of note, if you go with a cleanable filter, our cars can be a little picky with them. I have them on my car and normally things are just fine. But, if you are getting on and off the throttle a lot, the car sees the air flows changing too fast and will toss the P0101 code.

Thanks. Correct, the boxes are screwed shut with T20 torx. There are in fact two air filters. With the correct torx bit, the air filters are very simple to remove and replace.

Just be aware that Jaguar recommends using "matched" air filters.
Also as Thermo said I would not use any oiled cotton filters like a K & N.
