I must admit that I am sorely tempted to get the illuminated door sills. I've pretty much talked myself out of modifying the headlights (it's not something I can see while I'm in the car; it's something I will only know is there) and chipping the engine (my NA V8 is more than responsive enough and I'm too chicken**** to do anything that would give CarMax any pause in honoring my service contract), but the door sills are another story. My 2013 XJL was and is almost pristine when I bought it--everywhere except the door sills, which definitely show a lot of entry/egress scratches. Not only would the new sills address the one singular area of visible wear and tear, it's also something that me and my passengers would see every time when we enter and exit the XJL (most of my chauffeuring duties are in the evenings, so the lighted sills would be very evident).

I really Enjoyed the modifications and it gave me some ideas for my XJ. One question have you had a problem with the rear pillars. My car is Red with the Black rear pillars, which have faded a lot and I am getting after Jaguar for a solution. I am also in Texas, but in Houston. So let me know if you have any ideas.

I would imagine some good quality vinyl wrap would do the trick.

Those door sills are not illuminated. And they're overpriced.

My sincere and humble apology. I’ll be careful next time, so not to trigger you.
The person posted a request for a source, I saw the ad and shared it in good faith. It’s up to them to decide if the item/price worked for them.

Why the guilty conscience? You didn't "trigger" me, and you don't owe me an apology as you did nothing wrong. You were just trying to be helpful.

People make misteaks.

I know, I'm just trying to be funny.

I have a XJL black 2016. I got my rear door pillars polished then PPF was added to them. Works great. No fading, scratches, or swirls.

What is PPF? My XJR is the also red with black pillars but kept inside so the black is still nice and shiny so far.

PPF=Paint Protection Film. I have the Xpel brand. My entire front including mirrors have PPF on them.

Thanks! Yes I have used EXPEL before when I redid my headlights on my old S Type. Seemed to hold up well and I used it there because of the UV protection since I removed that when I polished the lights. If I ever buy a new car I would sure do the front end like you did. But with a used car that already has some chips and scratches it did not seem worth it.

I am surprised with all the things they do on high end cars that one of the factories did not start adding something like this as an option. I have seen Ferrari's with the entire body covered before. With the cost of paint work it would be worth it.
