Is there a service reminder on these cars ? Anyways, normally Jaguar stipulates a mileage interval, which, if not achieved, defaults to yearly, so you are overdue a service IMHO. Always remember, oil is cheap, engines are expensive, so buy the oil !

I wouldn't rely on an oil reminder light, simply because they are a function that can fail, and are dependent upon service personnel to reset them at the last oil change. Check your owner's manual and think for yourself. Technology is great, but when it fails, disaster is at hand. Just think about O'Hare field in Chicago, the busiest airport in the world. Very recently one wacko with a grudge prevented thousands of flights, and hundreds of thousands of people from getting to where they want to go.

I believe that you are obligated to perform the first year service which is covered under warranty, in order to maintain the warranty.

Personally I have my oil changed and car inspected every 7500 miles or 6 months as not changing oil for 15k or one year goes against my nature.

On my X350, the previous model to yours, service is every 10,000 miles or yearly which ever comes first. I can't see the current model being much different, but anyway, it will be in the Owners Handbook somewhere.

Yes, there is.

Mine came on shortly after I had the first service performed, apparently, because the dealer forgot to reset whatever needs to be reset so that the car's computer knows that it was performed. (You can tell that I'm not mechanically inclined, right? ;-)
