Great Forum - My 2 cents
I've had my XJL since April 1 and haven't had any problems (snap, crackle & popping). I love this car so much I hate to bring up the one problem I just had........ The engine cooling fan went out. Completely out. It's been at the dealer for two days because they had to order the fan. I only have 4,500 miles on the car. I hope this isn't a precursor to what I might be in for. Other than that it beats the crap out of the CLS 63 I traded for it. And it does get more gawks than the CLS ever did. I got the car the day it was delivered to the dealer. In fact it still had all the plastic wrap on it when I got there. I don't think I gave them enough time to go over the car like they normally would so when I started reading about all these software glitches I got a little worried. The tech told me today that the car was so new it had all the software fixes already installed. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope the fan problem was a fluke........ This is a great forum!
I agree that this is a great forum, but honestly with all the complaints, it makes me very twitchy when I drive it....I've had a great experience, but every pothole makes me wonder if I'll start hearing pops, or the cruise will go out, or that I'll lock my keyfob in the trunk............takes away a bit of the enjoyment sometimes, but all in all I live the forum, love the Jag (so far).
Well this forum has really educated me. My vin# is 18000+
Which I think is good from what I've read. If I hadn't read in a consumer reports review that the computer was slow (before I bought the car) I might not have noticed. The rear camera is slow and quirky.
My question is can this "delay" in the interface be fixed with software updates or did Jaguar use the flash chip that was the fastest at the time they built it. Will the 2012 model have an upgraded computer and we're stuck? It's not a big deal to me. That's what we get when we're the first to try something new.
I did get a little neurotic after reading some of these posts..... I actually went out and drove the car over a pot hole and up an incline hard with the stereo off to see if I could hear snap, crackle & popping. NOTHING! Yay! I plugged my IPhone into the IPod resceptacle and not only did the IPod work but I could also make a phone call out without a hitch. The voice recognition works flawlessly. That's the easiest way to use the navigation system rather than trying to type in everything. HOWEVER, the GPS is cumbersome and hard to figure out. That probably needs a whole Thread by itself!!

Great to hear both of you are enjoying your cars. Don't worry too much about some of the issues some are having with the popping and other noises they are having with their cars, this issue has been beaten to death by a few members over and over again, this roof popping noise has been addressed by jaguar and corrected end of story.
I am going on almost 10 months with my XJ S/C and I haven't had a single issue or noise or software glitch or anything go wrong. The car is a joy to drive I actually look forward to driving it everyday and look for excuses to go anywhere just to drive it more. The engine on this car just screams, the steering feel and handling are excellent and the stereo is awesome.
jffcurt I think the fan issue you had is just a fluke since it's the first I have read about it here, maybe it's because you bought your car on April 1st. Lol.
As stated this is a great forum with a lot of great members with very useful and insightful information about these great cars, but as any forum there will be some valid complaints and gripes about the cars and rightfully so, and you will also read complaints that leave you scratching your head and wondering. Like a post I read a while ago that the dash accumulates too much dust...WTF.
Enjoy your XJ's you made a great decision to buy one. As it's a great value compared with it's competion.

I love making a good deal and this car is sooooooo much car for the money. Yeah, some of the electronic gadgets are a little behind some of the competition, but you can't beat the style, performance, and fit and finish and that's what's important to me. This is a real driver's car.
As far as problems go, mine was a real early delivery (first one delivered by my dealer--VIN in the 3,000's) and after the first couple of months of the dealer addressing the issues and installing the software upgrades I haven't had any recurring items. I really think Jaguar did a good job figuring out what was wrong and doing everything possible to make it right. Unfortunately, some of the dealers were not as good as others at performing the fixes and it frustrated some owners.

I agree with HouTex. I made sure all the TSBs were done before I signed for the car. Also all the dealer switched options I could find were turned on or off to my preference.
Not a problem at all. I have a horrible feeling that some peoples cars are just possessed by the Rice Krispy triplets. The only solution is to leave a bowl of milk and sliced bananas next to the car overnight and pray.
