Default Help. VSS Vehicle Speed Sensor

I’m unable to log into my car’s incontrol for navigation. I was told by Jag North America techs it’s the VSS. It doesn’t make sense. Anyone know about this? The dealer recently replaced modules and my head unit for the radio.

rorainey, the "VSS" is really just a signal that is produced from the ABS unit that is a summation of the 4 wheel speed sensors. So, you are most likely dealing with a problem internal to the radio as the VSS signal is transferred over a CAN Bus. So, if you had an issue with VSS, you would have issues with other signals too. So, you have an issue with the ABS module not calculating vehicle speed (this should throw up a bunch of codes for things like stability control, ABS in general, cruise control, etc) or the radio has an internal issue and it cannot obtain the value from the data stream. Have you recently updated your radio or made changes to the constants that it has? If so, I would undo those things first.

The dealership replaced the Radio and other modules. Thats the funny thing though I’m not getting any error codes or any lights or warnings on the dash. I just can’t log into Incontrol in the car. It has been giving me this error message I posted a pic of. Jaguar NA techs said my VSS would fix that. Even the customer service rep was like this doesn’t make sense.

Any chance the dealer can use SDD and check for codes?
Does the cruise control work because if it does then you have no problems with the ABS. As Thermo posted above we really don't have a VSS anymore things have progressed and gotten more complicated with the passing years. There is no VSS sensor.

Every thing is functional! No error codes no nothing. My car was at the dealer from February-June waiting on the back ordered modules and head unit. The dealer got the wrong part from JLR so then I had to wait more time to get the right part. I’m trying not to bring it back. I told the service manager it was winter time when I gave you guys my car. It was summertime when I got it back. The SEASONS changed it was there so long.

I need to update my maps in the car. I can’t remember when I used to do it in the past if I had to log into my incontrol navigation account from the car to perform the update.
