long way to catch up jaguar
Never mind the interior quality, just look at the screen! It does all kinds of cool stuff!
I hate all cars which have their touch screen in what looks like a stuck in place iPad, and I'm afraid Merc has now gone this way. Also I agree that buttons are far more intuitive to use without looking at them than a touch screen. So I also dislike the current move by car manufacturers to make ALL functions only accessible via the touch screen - sometimes after delving down through menus and sub-menus. This is dangerous when on the move since you have to take your eyes off the road for far too long both to observe the menus and to put your finger precisely on the required spot.
I think Jaguar has, so far at least, gotten it about right with the touch screen built into the dash, and important and often accessed functions (like heating-cooling adjustment, fan speed, transmission sport mode, driving mode (normal, eco, dynamic), stop-start on and off etc) all accessible via buttons or the transmission shifter. Although the infotainment system is mainly controlled through the touch screen, the most used functions can also be controlled via steering wheel buttons which, I think, is an acceptable compromise. Let's hope they keep it that way!
