Looking to buy - questions
So it looks like the wife has her mind set on an XJ and we may go pick one up this weekend.. This will be the 3rd Jag in our family
..Looks like the dealer has some good deals on their remaining 2012's so we are looking at those .. but i have a few questions:
1) how does the Jaguar Loyalty Program work? Do we agree on a price and then spring on them that we want the additional ($4k?) off the price for the Loyalty Program? and.. are their any restrictions on the loyalty program?
2) How motivated will the dealer be to get rid of the 2012's? Will they have to ship them all back at some point, or do they just keep them all until they sell them? We've been looking at a few with MSRP of $72k being advertised around $63k - should we expect to be able to negotiate down below that price?

Well, as it's November, I would have thought you would get a super deal on a 2012, compared to ordering a 2013 for spring delivery. $63k is £39k so sounds like a good deal to me, but make sure you know what you are buying. Is it a dealer demo, or a brand new unused car in the showroom ? Check when the warranty starts too. These cars have had some trouble with roof popping but that seems to be sorted out now,#
FWIW I spoke to an English owner on an XJ6 diesel when at a car park in Formby, a commuter village on the coast near Liverpool. He was very pleased with the car, but as a long-standing "Jaguar man" said the new style took quite a bit of getting used to. BTW the diesel is not exported to the US.

If you owned or leased a Jag within the past 3 years you are eligible for the loyalty rebate. Don't need to tell the dealer until you make your best deal since this is factory money not dealer money.
??
Sounds like a good deal. I don't think you need to hide the loyalty discount. That is a factory deal so the dealer does not stand to gain or loose from applying it.
I purchased a 2012 in August and got a decent deal. However, if I knew that the 2013s would have a revised suspension (springs and shocks to make the ride better) and the 8-speed transmission I would have waited for the 2013s. The 2011s & 12s ride rather firmly for a luxury sedan. I'm pretty sure that the 2013s will loose nothing from their good handling while gaining potentially a better ride.

Went by the dealership to pick up a new programmed key and while I was there, I test drove a 2013 XJ Portfolio 6 cylinder. I drove it 6 miles. The suspension was softer in regular mode and the engine really was a let down. It was firmer and slower than my 7 series, but was not blown away enough that it would sway me not to buy a 2012. When I bought my XJ Supercharged Jag, I bought a Luxury Sports Sedan. I wouldn't change it, period.
Thanks guys.. I finally found the ownership loyalty details.
My wife was also thinking about the V6 and Pennys58 comment is about what I expected.. I suppose it wont hurt to let her give it a spin anyway..
