Default Misfire

Updates. I’ve replaced my injectors, both o2 sensors on bank 2, spark plugs, ignition coils, and both cam sensors on bank 2 and I’m still getting misfire on 2,4,6,8 with a (P0316 Misfire at 1000 revolutions) a cat code, and a thermostat code p0128 when my thermostat is new with no over heating issues. I might just trade this SOB for a bottle of Hennessy.

any suggestions? Am I overlooking anything or mid diagnosing? She’s well well over 100k in miles 2011 XJL 5.0

Maybe your coolant temperature sensor is bad.

This is is my understanding of the relationship. Cars run a different fuel mixture when they do a cold startup. After they warm up they lean out the fuel mixture. If the coolant temperature sensor tells your car it is still cold, it will continue to run rich even after warm up. Your thermostat is opening up at the correct temperature, so no overheating. But your coolant temperature sensor thinks it’s opening too early when it’s still cold, triggering a CEL.

The only thing that doesn’t make sense with this explanation is why this would only happen on bank 2.

Would be good to see what your coolant temps are when the faults are triggered.

All the best.
