Question My car died

So my Jaguar lasted about 3 maybe 4 years. I put a new transmission and, it is still under warranty but, Thursday it stalled just as I pulled into my drive way. It will not start either.
Sad but I don't know what is wrong with it anymore...

I need to sell it...does anyone on this forum want it.?????:icon_ frown:

Hi elic9, sorry to hear the bad news! Good thing it's under warranty - should be able to fix it quickly for you, I'd hope!

Can you let us know what year and model your car is (engine/trim/etc)? It helps all of us on here in troubleshooting and finding useful resources specific to your model. I'd advise including it in your "signature" on your profile. (See mine at the bottom).

Well, Elic9, your Jaguar no doubt has a helluva lot of life left in it. My own XJ6, an X350 model series, was 7 years old when I bought it and 13 years old when I traded it, (last month), for another X350 car. I bought the same model but later year and lower miles. I did this because I like the car a lot, and it has never let me down by the roadside.

You don't say what Jaguar model you have, but have posted in the forum for the current model. If you have the current in-production XJ saloon, then these cars are capable of going to the moon and back !

So, if you could be a bit more forthcoming about what car you have, its miles and age, and who is servicing and maintaining it, better advice can be given. I suspect the cause of your trouble is fairly simple. Clearly, reading your post you are a bit fed-up with it, but most auto-related troubles can be overcome.

I'm assuming since you say it is "still under warranty" that it is a current model XJ. Number One Priority is to get in touch with your dealer and get it fixed. Selling it when it's not running would be like giving it away! Even if you're determined to get rid of it, fix it first! Any other course would be a mistake!

Your profile says that your car is a 2002 XJ so it lasted 15 years, not 3 or 4.

Red face Jaguar

The car I have is a Jaguar 2002 XJ8...I have drivers handbooks, the transmission was replaced Jan. 20, 2016 but, it sat at shop till June 4, 2016.
two year warranty..I don't want to give up but, the mechanic was supposed to put the machine and check the code and he didn't.

Thank you all and, I think your right it might be transmission still and, the mechanic knows and does not want to help me..Miles it has is: 115,866.

I just called mechanic and says he is busy but maybe tomorrow..you all really give me hope!

Aha, your car is what we call an X308, the last of the steel-bodied XJ saloons, so it seems it has lasted pretty well, as I suspected. 14 years and 115,000 miles is not bad for an up-market car. However, since that model was replaced by mine (X350) in 2003, and now the current X351 since 2009, (all XJ saloons BTW), they have got even better.

It will be better if you asked an administrator to move this thread to the X308 forum, as more people with these cars will see your thread and give better advice.

Here is Wikipedia on your car

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_XJ_(X308)

Gearbox is a German ZF five speed. These are normally very reliable, but needless to say, the persons who owned the car before you can greatly affect the life and reliability of components. Wheel-spin to wheel-lock merchants can soon wreck a car completely !
