Oil Argument Again
Gentlemen, Help me find the old thread please. My mechanic has been told by his distributor that the Pennzoil platinum 5W-20 meets the Ford WSS M2c 945A spec and that this spec supersedes the
WSS M2c 925A that is required for our engines. I seem to remember a thread that said somebody checked and 945 does not supersede 925 and that they are two different unassociated specs.

https://www.jaguarforum.com/threads/...2c925-a.98896/ Check this link also. It gives you some back stories from other people searching for this answer.
945 supersedes 925, but only in Ford vehicles. Jaguar replaced 925 with their own, the 5122 spec. Motul, Liqui Moly, Fuchs, and Ravenol all sell 5122 specific oils. Motul Specific 5122 and Liqui Moly Special Tec LR are the most widely available in the US.
Personally, I don't see the need to experiment with other oils when ones that specifically meet the latest JLR spec, 5122, are available.
