Default Oil change - help needed

Hi all,

I've bought this electric oil pump to aid me in changing my engine oil.
When I've went to connect it today I've found the the pipes are too big to go down the dipstick and too small to go over the dipstick.

Does anyone know the exact mm of pipe that I need?

Thanks,

Paul

What I did was use some rubber vacuum hose to connect the two, the dipstick inner tube to the pump tube. It will stretch enough to accommodate quite a range of diameters.

I've just had a quick look on eBay and all of the vacuum hose is different diameters too

I used a small piece of rubber tubing too to make it fit. the other key tidbit that I will tell you is that you want the oil warm (not hot like right after the engine is turned off, but also not cold from sitting all night). I find if I go for a drive and then pull the car into the driveway, open the hood and then take a half hour or so to get set up and do some other little stuff, the oil is at a nice temp that it will pump really easy, yet, not be hard on the pump. The first time, I did it with the oil cold and while it did suck all the oil out of the engine, it took about 45 minutes. Where, if you do it with the oil warm, 5-7 minutes and you are done. The last trick I would recommend is getting yourself a 5 gallon gas can (or a 2 gallon one would be better if you like to dump your oil right away). That way you pump the oil directly into the "gas can" and you can change your oil 3 times before needing to run to the recycle center to dump the oil.

The outside diameter of the oil extraction tube is 9 mm so you want a piece of tubing or an adaptor plug with a 9 mm internal diameter.
I had the same problem as the OP, the adaptors and tubes which came with my suction pump were either two wide or too narrow, but one of the adaptors had an internal diameter of 10 mm and fitted over the extraction tube but too loosely to make a decent vacuum seal. However I already knew that one of the 9 mm vacuum plugs I had laying around spare fitted nice and tight over the extraction tube to I drilled out the other end of it and stick it in the 10 mm adaptor, hey presto a perfect airtight fit!
