Default Oil leak

Hello....while installing my lower supercharger pulley today I noticed I have a small oil leak. What is this part? Has anyone seen/fixed this before? Of course my CPO ended yesterday. Thanks for all your help

Tom

Not sure as the oil looks like it's coming from above but that cover with two screws on it is your gear driven vacuum pump. Very well known for leaking!
But it's a simple fix. Take the two screws off clean and reinstall or you can replace the O-ring too. Sometimes the screws are just loose.
Be sure and fix it as we have had people lose so much oil from it that they lost the engine.

clubairth1...thanks so much. Odd place for a vacuum pump....but if I track the hose I think it makes it all the way to the booster. The leak is coming from the where the black piece meets the metal housing, not where the black piece meets the hose and connector. Is there an o-ring in there? There is a T27 screw that appears to attach it and it is tight. It does not looks like it is worth the trouble to bring it in. The whole assy as you mentioned is connected via two screws. I imagine it will dump most of the oil if any of these parts are removed?

Thanks again
Tom

Yes there is an O ring, C2D3771. I did this to mine which was leaking at 60k, it's just the two bolts to remove the pump, swap, clean up, and replace oil. I did mine with an oil change so I didn't pay attention to how much oil I lost.

Yes I see what your seeing but that is a vacuum hose with no oil in it so not sure?
Is there another seal internal to the pump that has failed?
Maybe wipe everything down good and keep and eye on it?
I would be tempted to pull the vacuum hose off the brake booster to see if any oil has been sucked up into it. This not been reported before but who knows?

I don't think any oil will come out if the engine is not running so you can swap it at anytime.

Just to follow up this is now fixed! There was a small o-ring in the black vacuum connector that goes to the pump as seen on the right. This is where the oil was oozing from. I replaced it with a #7 o-ring 1/2" OD x 3/8" ID. You don't need to remove the pump for this, but it you do also get a Jaguar gasket ring #C2D3771 for the pump to block interface as seen on the left. I pumped all the engine oil out and then pumped it back in when finished and there was no spillage.

I miss my warranty.

Tom

Thanks for reporting back as I have not seen that small O-ring leak before but your picture did indicate that was the problem.

Default Leaking oil at o ring by vacuum pump

I have the same issue. I need to find out how to remove the black plug to replace the o ring. Do I need a special too to pry it out or just simply pull it up?

Just changed out my 2 orings. Took about an hour, drive it up on ramps. I had a lot of oil everywhere, this was probably only part of the problem. Looks like a lot of oil is coming from higher up, my alternator was completely covered in oil.

You would be surprised how far the oil gets slung around the engine compartment!
I would clean it as good as I could and give it a few days to dry out while driving around.
You might be fixed?
