Default Orginal Brakes

I am curious if anyone knows who actually makes the original brake pads for Jaguar in the XJ line. Not talking about any performance ones by brembo, but the standard ones that come with the car when new?

Thanks

Think Galfer was - but pretty sure TRW is supplying for some models now

I don't think it is TRW. I actually use TRW, as they are one of only TWO manufacturers who make CERAMIC pads for the S/C 5.0. OEM pads are NOT ceramic, unless they have changed something recently.

Actually you can find ceramics made by Centric, Bosch and several others. The are all available at Rock Auto. I am just more than curious as to who does the originals

Thanks

Actually, for the 380 MM fronts (Supercharged 5.0), are all semi metallic except for EBC and TRW, which are ceramic. It was a p.i.t.a. finding the right pads and rotors, and my son actually WORKS at Rock Auto, as they carry neither. That is how I knew that the TRWs are ceramic, as that is what I ended up going with. Not sure if TRW would have a second pad formulation (non ceramic) for Jag OEM use?

I actually have little interest in ever buying TRW as I really do not think brake pads are some rocket science known to only one company and be overcharged for them to enrich the stockholders of a dealership.

I am not sure about your comment on ceramics and perhaps I am misunderstanding it, but at this link you see a number of ceramic pads by Centric, Bosch, Monroe

Hi Tom,

I was just saying NONE of those Ceramics listed for fronts fit the larger 380 MM front brakes that come on the Supercharged 5.0. As far as my research has yielded, the ONLY ceramics that DO are TRW or EBC. All of those front ceramics are for N/A 5.0 and supercharged 3.0, which use smaller brakes. Still doesn't answer the source of OEM pads, but I THOUGHT someone had said Pagid were OEM.

Pagid, TRW, Mintex, Ferodo, they've all been OEM at one point or another.
