Yes, I would definitely go with middle-left of your 6. So that's the leaper and the "Jaguar" script, but not the model or engine designations.

Nice set of pictures for comparison.

I still like the 2013 factory badging (upper left) the most out of all those choices. I like how they dress up the big flat rear deck-lid that is just way too plain to my eyes without badging. Now that the standard engine is a 3L V6, I prefer to have my car with the 5.0 designation.

Definitely not fond of the designation on the 2013s- way too cluttered.

They finally had it right, i don't know why they had to stick all the badges on there. They might as well put the length of the car on the trunk lid too in inches.

I debadge all of my cars to some degree.
As posted already, heat and dental floss have always worked best for me, followed by a little alcohol for any sticky residue.. then dont forget to wax the affected area..

Leaper with Jaguar under it looks Kool...!
Leaper alone looks great too... either choice is nice.

Plus add the inches of the wheels as some of the youngsters do it 22" 24" 26" 28" 30" and why not throw in the stereo watts. .... LOL

I agree it's tooooo much..

Ditto, I think by adding 5.0 or 3.0 badges cheapens the car a bit. When I see 5.0, I think of the old cheesy mustangs of the 80s.

Why one would want to deface an XJ is beyond me. Jag offers a badge delete option in N.America but I would always retain the badges on my XJ. If you didn't like the badging on the 2012 XJ, you're going to hate the 2013 car which has additional badging on the trunk lid...
- 'JAGUAR' script beneath the leaper
- Engine capacity on the bottom right '3.0 or 5.0'
- 'AWD' on bottom right (if equipped)

I took the XK on my well XK. Do not like most model badges unless they are centered, pinned (don't have a choice), or are really "meant" as part of the design.

The XJ should offer or just put on the growler badge; looks better than the leaper IMO... When did Puma start making cars?

I like the stock look. Badges on. I like even more the 2013 model that has the other 5.0 and the word 'Jaguar' on as well.

I added both new 2013 badging to my 2012 XJL and IMO, it looks good.

I never understood the de-badging principles. Why would people try to hide the ID of their models? There are lots of people on whom a de-badged XJ would be lost on. It is a rare sight so, it might as well be mistaken for a large Hyundai, as far as the un-initiated observer would know. I'm proud to be driving a Jag and don't mind displaying the brand and model designations. Besides, cars with too many blacked out details and accessories just don't look right for me. Contrasts in the design are important visually. Badging provides some of that contrast. Without it the big flat vertical read deck is too plain.

I like the XJ balanced with the 5.0. Could do without the JAGUAR script under the leader, but it doesn't bother me that much. Not enough to do anything about it. I find that wax and dirt tends to collect around the letters anyways.

Sorry to resurrect the thread, but it is my thread after all...

I took the "XJL" badge off today. Heated the area with a hairdryer, then just pulled the badges off. Cleaned it up with methylated spirit. 5 minute job, and I think it looks much better now.

I didn't know one could remove the badges that easily. I intend to remove the 'JAGUAR' script below the leaper when I get my XJL Supercharged. That in addition to the '5.0' badge on the trunk lid looks a bit to me like overkill. Best to have just the leaper & 'XJL' badges IMO.

Yep removing badges is easy, don't forget to protect the paint underneath though with polish and a layer of wax as it is unlikely to be protected otherwise

Clearly this is a "to each his own" argument. When I purchased my XJ L and it was missing the badges I thought someone debadged it. I actually liked the letters. Here some one it removed, I actually wanted to add them. I purchased the official part on eBay. Stuck them on. Then realized I put them in the wrong placed. I was also having my car tinted so the guy simply used his heat gun to moisten the adhesive, pulled it off, then placed it correctly. I don't like the "Jaguar" underneath the leaper logo however. I didn't add that to my car. Just added the XJ L lettering. The word Jaguar wasn't there but the leaper was.

I'm picking up my new 2014 XJL this afternoon. When I was configuring my order I was surprised to see an option to delete the badges. I didn't check the price.

I agree, I like it without the badging.

Not to stray off topic on this thread, but this question is somewhat related.

I notice that most of these XJL's I see for sale have the growler on the front of the car. I have noticed on some I've seen on the street also have a silver leaper hood emblem as well, like you would see on an older S or X type. Is this something that the owner is adding aftermarket or does the dealer offer to put them on?
I think it looks pretty good, as the front of the XJ's look identical to the XF's

Dealers often add them to used cars to increase sales appeal to people who associate the "growler" or "leaper" hood ornament with past Jaguars they have loved or admired.
