Thankfully, my dealer, at the time, had a chief technician that was originally Rolls Royce trained, and he did the cam replacement on our car. The Jaguar zone manager was very attentive to the situation, and fully understood my frustration with this defect. He simply requested that we give them the opportunity to replace the defective camshaft, drive the car for a few weeks, and if for ANY reason we were dissatisfied, they'd replace the car.
As I mentioned, the tech, sadly now retired (but good for him), was HIGHLY skilled, and he did an excellent job in swapping the cam, and the car was fine for the next 12,000 miles. At that point, the car was rear-ended, and ultimately written off as a "total".
We really miss that car!!!
