Regarding oil change and measurments on 5.0 petrol engines
Just did an oil change and wanted to share information regarding electronic oil level. I recommend using the icarsoft calculated oil capacity (live data) to estimate the oil level on our cars. I drained the car completely. 6.3 liters came out. The reading on icarsoft said 6.4. The dash measu
remnt said oil Full and OK. Filled the car to specification (7.25l) to 7.3 liters and the icarsoft said 7.3 liters measured. The reason for mentioning this is that when using the on dash oil level measuring, the car will tell me the oil level is OK and at max ,down to less than 6 liters. First at 5.8-5.7 liters will it tell you to add oil (in my experience) . The oil sensor seems however to be accurate, , and the calculated level is on spot. In conclusion: Dont trust the dash measurement, and use Icarsoft to keep the car at desired level.
