Seems one of my keys has gone into the twilight zone.
Anyone know of any replacements outside of the dealer for a 2013 xj?

 

I just bought a brand new one with blank emergency blade off of eBay for $99 , free shipping from an outfit called "yourkeylessremote" out of Springvile, Illinois. I spoke with them by phone before buying, they were very helpful.

It was easy to erase all previous keys and program both the new key and reprogram the one old key that came with the car, using the SDD I bought from British Diagnostics. If you have to pay the dealership or a suitably-equipped Indy to program it, it may cost more than buying the SDD and doing it yourself.

The key I got is a little larger than the one you probably have, since they changed to a smaller one in 2012. But it is listed as still a fit. The emergency blade can be cut at a locksmith that has a machine to do the laser key cutting for between $25 and $45 or so if needed.

If you call them, they might be able to sell you the smaller key you have.
Not that it matters, but I don't mind the larger key that was standard on the 2012 and earlier.
