Thumbs up Steering fixed

Got my 2012 SWB XJ back yesterday after the intermediate steering was replaced due to failure of the U-joint. Wow, what a difference. Guess it was going bad when I bought the car, because the steering is now nearly as direct feeling as my '08 XKR.

How many miles on your XJ? Was it repaired by a Jaguar dealer or indie? Was it covered under warranty? If not, what was the cost breakdown for parts and labor? Thanks.

Hi, Stuart

Car has 39,000 miles on the clock.

It was repaired for free by Carmax in Las Vegas under their 30 day rule. The car came from their Oxnard facility. With the low miles I wonder if the former owner was in the habit of hauling on the steering wheel with the car not moving. Web searches turned up no similar failures.

I'll check the paperwork later to see if they put anything on there about costs.
