Switched live needed for aftermarket subwoofer
Hi all, This is my first time out of the newbie area, be kind please!
My XJ has the base level sound system, and whilst that is very good for a starting point it isn't quite up to my standards. In an ideal world I'd buy a newer model with the Reference system, but a bit of DIY and the Pioneer 'flat' sub pinched out of my old car will have to suffice!
Obviously, with the battery in the boot, the permanent live and earth are easily sourced - but I'm debating which is the best route for an ignition live, so here I am hoping for a point (or shove) in the right direction.
My idea was to pull the trim off the side of the centre console to hopefully find the positive for the 12v socket, splice into that and hide the wire all the way around the car to the boot (I am NOT pulling the carpet up on a car like this!!)
But I was wondering if there was an easier location for a reliable switched live, possibly in the boot, which would save me having to bodge bits of wire together.
Answers on a post about Thanks, in advance
