I thought about getting a new look, and realized that the factory got it right.

I had all 4 Kasugas completely refurbished today and added ceramic coating. Curious to see what difference, if any, that makes with the brake dust.

Had some misfires on cylinder 8, about 10-20 during cold start-up. They would stop after driving a few miles. So my shop changed all the spark plugs. Two spark plugs looked like they had carbon deposits on them. They also did a leak down test and inspected the piston rings etc, and there were no problems. Also changed cylinder 8 fuel injector, as a precaution. Misfires on cylinder 8 are now completely gone.

Interestingly there were also 2-3 misfires occurring on two other cylinders during each cold start; I can’t really feel them, they just show up under Mode 6 counts. The spark plug change did not cause them to go away. This suggests that the residual misfires are also due to fuel injectors. I have used BG44k products for the last 6 months (every 3 months), but alas still injector issues. I will try Techron concentrate next fill-up to hopefully clear any residual gunk. Fingers crossed.

I also had the transmission fluid, pan, and sleeve changed during this service as well.

The car idles much better now after cold start. Unfortunately poverty is stopping me from doing any more service at the moment.

Once you go black...

The XJ rear. As you can see I have tinted the lights but cut out the turn signal to give it an extra pop. Also instead of removing the badges I decided to get those darkened up a bit as well. You’ll also notice I have an electronica license plate on the back.

Xj front. Black out grill trim and around the bumper.

XJ from the side. I have done limo tent all the way around with the exception of the windshield.

That's exactly what I did with my taillights. Love it.

My entry for this thread: After months of being annoyed with the Low Battery warning popping up, I finally installed a fresh Champion AGM battery from Pepboys yesterday. Around $150 with core refund.

I completed another oil change this weekend at 107,900 miles. Cleaned and re-oiled my air filters and cleaned the MAF sensors. I discovered the front straight control arms both had rips in the big bushings so those are on order along with new ball joints for the wheel spindles (balljoints are ok but since you have to separate them from the control arms, might as well replace them at the same time).

I completed the replacement of the control arms on Thursday but the ball joints I ordered do not match the ones on the car. Back to drawing board on that but everything else was successful.

Nice job. If possible could you please post part numbers of the control arms which worked and which ball joints didn’t work for you. Thanks.

Lemforder C2D35200 & C2D35201. Got them from eEuroparts with quick shipping.

I had hoped the balljoints were the same as on my old X350 but alas, they are slightly different. Uro Parts C2C257889BJ is the incorrect part. Still on the lookout for the proper ones.

Great thanks. I’m thinking of doing mine in the next year. So part numbers always help.

I did a transmission pan/filter/fluid replacement on Saturday using Redline D6. I intended to also replace the mechatronic sleeve but discovered that it is a far more involved job than on the old 6speed ZF.

The old fluid was very thin and dark and there was a bit of silver mush on the pan magnets, but nothing too bad for this mileage. Shifts are much smoother now, especially downshifting while coming to a stop.

I'll do two more drain/refills over the next few months to hopefully get as much of the old fluid out as possible.

Next on the list is a coolant flush and refill.

About 108k. I'm fairly sure the fluid has never been changed before.

I completed the Bosch 010 pump upgrade and replaced the water pump and the hose going from the thermostat housing to the water outlet above the throttle body. Fresh new coolant too. Next on the list is O2 sensors and 400 cell cats.

I swapped my stock front sway bar yesterday with XJR bar. To be honest, I wasn't really sure if I would notice a difference...but man, what a difference! The car feels much more planted and solid, and the steering has a nice weightier feel to it. Body roll, especially around corners, is negligible now, especially with dynamic mode on. Very very pleased. I highly recommend this upgrade.

The idea originally came from this post by Xjsss a few years back:

Where did you get the bar? Seems like a good idea!
