Well, my left exhaust hanger randomly broke as I was pulling into my block. My muffler fell out of the vehicle as a result. Luckily, the muffler is not damaged beyond repair - one of the welds got ground down from scraping the concrete the whole way. I'll count my losses and have a new hanger on the way (darn EPDM) and get the muffler back on tomorrow. My mina exhaust tips got a little scraped up, but nothing some sanding and polishing won't make look better.
Used some vacuum for interior and cleaned + add care balm for all leather surfaces. Treated myself afterwards with lacy ride to south harbourpark for BIG icecream. Nice saturday
I'm doing my annual oil change today, and I stopped to wonder if removing and cleaning out the oil level sensor periodically would be of any use. The last time I had out was when I removed the oil pan back in early 2018, and I haven't given it much thought since. Does anyone have any insight on this before I fill the engine back up?
The sensor are an ultrasound type, so no need of cleaning. The metal flakes would cause an mismeasuring, but if you have metal flakes on oil, the measurement are the least of your worries.
I did end up removing it to check its condition, which seemed fine. The oil in general was practically brand new as I've only driven about 2k miles over the past year.
It was not today, but took some time to connect here.
So - I passed my MOT
(nearly from the first attempt)
The check guy could not find anything wrong with the car, except rear number plate light was broke (one of two).
But that was enougth for him to make me fail.
Luckily with such small issues you are allowed to avoid full check up - just a drive buy showing working bulb was enougth. So 1 Eur bulb purchase and changing it there in the shop parking the next day was enougth to pass it.
So if you are going for a MOT, i advice to check every possible issue, even such small things. Because you never know, if a check up guy has a bad mood.

Well, after about a year and half of trouble-free motoring (admittedly, I haven't been driving much since I work at home), the Big Cat began leaking coolant (my fav types of repairs) from the hose that runs under the supercharger and connects to the expansion tank hose. It used to connect to the throttle body but I did a bypass of that many years ago. I believe this plastic connector to be the culprit:
Does anybody know what purpose this thing actually serves? That slanted barb has never been attached to anything so far as I remember. I want to just use a brass coupling and a new length of hose and be done with it.
Yes that is a left over remnant from a earlier cooling hose setup. If you look or try to poke something in that nipple you will find it's sealed off and is a dummy only. I think what you want to do should work fine?
Post back with your repair if possible?
This is a bit hard to see but Item #7 shows the empty nipple (Circled in green). Not a great diagram either.
#7 replaced item #6 that did have a rubber hose attached.
OK, so not exactly X351 but still relevant to all V6 and V8 petrol cars.
My wife's F-Pace started throwing up "Low Battery, Start Engine" warnings. Ah, me thinks, new battery required! I charged the battery overnight, caption went away! Hurray, all is good! Not.
Next morning, everything looks good until on shutdown I get "Charging System Fault". OK I think, battery must be f@cked" . I'm getting 11.8v on the static battery test.
New battery ordered and fitted, dynamic voltage still sub 12v.
OK. battery not the problem.
New alternator ordered (do not order the $1200 one from JLR), and fitted....for something that is actually only 3 bolts and 2 electrical connections, what a PITA!
One bolt is invisible, and one electrical plug needs to be so aligned perfectly or it will not engage. Remember, you are trying to align this 14lb monster, while lying on your back, with only one hand access, and scared sh!tless this stupid thing is about to fall on your face and smash your teeth/nose/face
Hi wanted to share my hitch project. I do triathlon and putting my bike in the trunk was in acceptable. so i found a place to make me a hitch. worked out Great
Do I see three connections points from the hitch to the underside of your car? Is that a threaded rod closest to the back of the hitch? Thanks
I pumped a quart out of the coolant expansion tank and put half of that back in to bring the level to MAX when cold. Previous owner or selling non-Jag dealer over-filled the tank. Unfortunately, the Low Coolant Level warning still comes on when the engine warms up. Off to the dealer Tuesday. sigh
