What're we thinking now that the XJ's are no longer in production?
Hey everyone, it's been a couple months! I just recently changed my water pump and all gaskets and plastic pieces on my jaguar, as well as nearly all my suspension and brakes all around. I was thinking about how Jaguar has stopped production on our amazing cars, and just had to get some opinions from the more seasoned users of the forum. Do we think prices will be rising in value for parts and work with a potential shortage of parts coming into the next few years? I was also wondering if we think the overall value of our cars will increase or decrease with this change too? I love my car and am keeping it regardless of what happens, but this all just piqued my interest.
Still NOT Impressed! I think we should offerr the Owners of Jaguar to bring in a design group that will knock the socks off all the other LUX cars! And do it with a guarantee of 150k miles or 20 years!
There is a spy photo of the XJ EV

I think I read that this "spy photo" referenced the XJ platform that was completely scrapped by JLR...so, it was my understanding that IF JLR introduces a new EV lux saloon, it will likely depart radically from any existing designs. Additionally, the guidance from JLR seems to indicate that they will be "upping the game" and shooting to compete with the higher pricepoint of Aston Martin and Bentley, rather than BMW. I'm all for "high-end" as long as the design, features, and quality live up to the pricetag. That said, I am a FOOL for Jaguars...just hope that they can live up to their guidance.
Yes, noises from JLR do seem to suggest that Jaguar is to be moved "up" to compete with Aston Martin and Bentley. I think this is seriously flawed strategy. Jaguar has always occupied the "premium car at a price just a little above the mainstream" market and, up to now at least, this has been the reason for their success. The market sector that Aston Martin and Bentley serve is not large and I cannot see Jaguar carving out much, if any, of a share of this. Why would a prospective Aston Martin or Bentley buyer consider a Jaguar, unproven at this elevated pricepoint?
