I'm nearing the end of my major refresh (full thread with photos to come!) but I've run into a small block and can't find any information or pictures online to determine the answer. Silly me forgot to take a photo of the plugs for the downstream oxygen sensor plugs. Do they plug into the plugs o on the corresponding side of the car (I.E. right sensor plugs into the right plug) or do they plug into opposite sides (I.E. right sensor plugs into the left plug)? Logic would dictate they would plug into the corresponding side, but due to the angle of the sensor and the sheer amount of bizarre design and engineering choices I've seen while working deeper on this car, it wouldn't surprise me if Jaguar decide to reverse sides. I've also looked at some underside shots on auction cars and the phots are fairly inconclusive...

I realize its probably not a huge deal, but it would greatly help me out in buttoning up my XJ!

 

They do cross! Left sensor goes into the right side body plug and vice versa.

 

Thank you for confirming that! I figured it was probably that, but it still seemed counter intuitive to plug them into the opposite sides of the car!

I threw in the sensors last night and it started right up, idled up to temperature with no lights! I'll consider that a win!
