A/c compressor
hello again all, i need a new a/c compressor because i believe that the one i have now is seized. it wont turn at all. is there any way that i could free it up? also, if i do have to change it out, will the a6 gm compressors work as they are a little cheaper and what year should i get. i have a 1996 xj6, thanks.

If the compressor has seized internally there's nothing to do. It's junk.
An old A6 compressor could probably be fitted with enough money and effort (new brackets etc) but it's an ancient design. It would be lots of work for a step backwards in efficiency.
When you DO replace the compressor make sure the system in flushed. When the old compressor seized it probably sent metal bits throughout the system
Cheers
