Hello . Can anyone help with some information about this link plug. Attached are two pictures one of the actual link the other one showing where it is attached to the input in the ECM in the wiring diagram. It looks like a resistor which when measured reads about 375 m ohms, not sure if other engines in this range of years had such a device. Steve
There is a plug near the ECU for that jumper which apparently provides a ground for that ECU pin. All I know is that it might be used for E85 fuel or possibly LPG, and probably changes the fuel maps and/or timing. I vaguely recall seeing that there were a few forum members who ran LPG in their AJ16 XJ6s in the UK.
I don't know how or if LPG could be used in the V12. Who knows if anyone has ever done that? And information on the subject might be scarce, especially in the US.
Hi Richard, Is it possible for you to take out your link and measure it with a ohm meter in both directions of polarity. I am trying to understand it's function. It's not just a straight to ground resistor for that pin on the ECM as i originally thought. When I remeasured it with a more accurate meter it has about 600K ohm's one way and 78K ohm's in the other direction, now I am thinking some kind of diode. I understand it's a big ask and how comfortable you are with pulling apart your car. Steve
I thought the link was not installed unless for a flex fuel setup. In other words my car wouldn't have one. But I may be mistaken. I'm curious now as I don't remember seeing the link in place before. I was in there a few months ago for airbag troubleshooting. I can check again soon and get back to you. Not a big ask at all.
