Howdy Everyone,
I'm from Tx and my family has over the years owned various Jags: from my grandfather owning a 66' E-Type 2+2 and Mark II Saloon to my Father owning an XJR-S for a brief time before having to sell it to help pay for his doctorate degree. When the new Ford designed XJs came out in 95' my mother was smitten and two years later bought a Jade Metallic Vanden Plas with 9k on the odomoter for less than half what it was new.
Anyways that is my brief intro as a new member and pertains to my current question. My family doesn't have the wealth it once did (Goldman Sachs playing no small part in that...
) and as such, along with some professional mechanical help I am beginning to restore my mother's pride and joy to its former glory, maybe better. One major thing I have been pondering is changing out the XJ6 bumper to an XJ8 bumper..I prefer the look of the XJ8 bumper and was wondering if anyone knows if this swap is fairly easy, has anyone done it, or if there are any major obstacles, what are they? Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to becoming a regularly contributing member.
Kindest Regards,
Wayne Everette

Ford at one time owned Jaguar...they did not design those XJs which were an upgrade to the original XJ40 designed long before Ford were involved with Jaguar. Obviously there was some input, but Jaguar maintained its own design department, and the car is a Jaguar design, not a Ford one.
The bumper mountings are the same, but whether the bumpers are interchangeble I don't know. The shape may be different, but knowing Jaguars fabled parsimony with parts, they aren't different and there will be no problem, but do a comparison first and especially check dimensions.
