04 XJ8 FM Antenna Access
I'll probably just go ahead and pull the center to get to the back of the radio, but does anyone know if I can access the fm antenna lead (into the back of the stereo) by reaching up under the dash? If so, is it on the driver or passenger side.
Thanks.

Alright, I'll just go ahead and answer my own question.
Getting to the FM antenna lead on the back of the stereo may be possible without removing the center console, but you'd be hard pressed toreach the release button on it or do any other work.
Removing the center does require a bit of time and patients, but there really isn't a whole lot to it.
[ul][*]Remove the ashtray insert.[*]Remove the cover around the shifter (not just the crome colored piece, but the whole thing). This whole cover pops off and can be kinda teadious because you're afraid of cracking it. Once the cover is removed, remove the two larger allen screws that secure the console (one on either side).[*]Remove the rear air vent (this actually just pulls out and then the threeelectrical leads need to be detached). Removing this cover is also a bit teadious because of the threat of breaking something, but just pry slowly from the bottom and work your way around. Then remove the two larger allen screws securing the console.[*]The console pulls up from the rear and away from the dash (there are a couple of snap fits at the top dash area that pull out).[*]Then just remove the four allens holding in the stereo/HVAC controls.[/ul]
I did this about a week ago and don't think I forgot to mention any bolts/screws, but please let me know if I have.
