Default 19" tire suggestions for 06 VDP? (quiet & smooth)

Time for a new set of 19" tires on our 2006 VDP. Currently have about 50k miles on Nexen 7000 and they are VERY quiet and ride smooth (my priorities). I like these better than Michelin MXV/M+ that I've had prior XJ8s.

I need a dry/wet tire as we sometimes take long trips in the rainy season, mostly highway at 80-90mph (wet or dry).
I see a lot of feedback on 18" tires, but I need the 255/40 R19 recommendations. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

I have a set of Pirelli Verde Scorpions on my XJR. These were 149.99 when purchased last year. Fits your description.
I have another car that uses 255/40R19 tired. It came with Verde Scorpions. Put 20k on them, they supposedly had 15K on them already. Got a deal at Discount Tire on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 for the price of the Pirellis. They ride much better than the worn Scorpions. I think they are about the same new.
I hear that the Pirelli P7 are the hot ticket. Those are 230.00 each or so.

Check out Cooper RS3-A. Awesome long lasting tire that's comfortable, quiet, long lasting and high performing and grippy even in the wet. To me is the best of all worlds.

I can vouch for the Pirelli P7s being quiet and smooth. Much better than the PZeros I had.

Are P7s actually made in the 255/40-19 size ? I can't find them in that size on the internet.

I should've mentioned mine are 18". I'm sorry, I don't know if they come in 19".

Not sure if the US has Bridgestone Turanza GR100 tires (but mine is 18"). Very quiet, comfortable and good grip wet and dry. The previous set (Dunlop) was installed new by the previous owner, and had very little miles on them, but I couldn't wait to replace all four corners as they were very scary when it rained.

If you care about the width of your tires...My P zeros are about 5/8 wider than the Pirelli Scorpions I have, and there the same size! WTF...That little amount makes a big difference, more than you think...I usually go to Tire Rack and look at the specs and measurements on each of the brands, width, diameter, etc... Width to me is the most important for looks and handling wise!

Yes. I just ordered some today @Discounttire. P7 A/S Plus Cinturato (or something like that)

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/152125170995

I ordered a pair from tire rack for $488 delivered. They replaced the worn out mixed brands on the front and so far so good. I'll buy another set when the Michelin Pilot A/S 3s on the back wear out. The P7s have a 700 wear rating VS 500 for the Michelins, if I remember correctly.

That's a very good deal. My pair from tirerack were $488 delivered, but they do come with a tire rack warranty which seemed a good idea considering some reports here of unrepairable sidewall damage.

We'll like go with the P7. I see there is a P7 and P7+. The "+" version has much higher tread life rating.
Is the P7 "+" what everyone likes ????
Thanks again!

The P7+ is an all around good tire IMHO. Mileage improved 2mpg on freeway and they are VERY quite for the first 4k miles.
My only criticism, is that it transfers more high frequency vibration than the Nexen's did (a little more dash rattles on rough road, etc.). Not a big deal, but a difference that surprised me, since the handling is softer than the Nexens'.
