Default 2004 Vanden Plas overhead console, wood trim

Is there any water now how I can safely remove the overhead console wood trim piece? It is starting to come down. I don’t wanna pull it down and break the tabs.

Yes, I had a similar problem when I got mine. this wood simulation plastic normally is glued to the plastic that is around it. First I tried to glue it back with HB double-sided tape. Did not work well at all.
I pulled it off completely out of plastic base. I took a plastic prybar and very judiciously pulled it out evenly from sides that kept it in place. Not very difficult, just know that you want this come on all sides evenly.
Then you will have to pull the plastic base down. This will require significantly more force. just consider that this plastic panel is kept in place by electrical connections. You will need strong plastic pry bar work evenly from all sides, eventually one side will open more and you will be able to remove it. There are no screws, may be some snap features. I worked on this three years ago and recall from memory.
One thing to realize: the artificial wooden trim by design suppose to remain with plastic trim panel is a ONE assembly! When it is glued to plastic trim, they would come out as one piece by prying plastic trim off.
When you take both things off you will see where wooden panel penetrates plastic trim with tabs and secured to it with double sided adhesive. I tried adhesives, but lost patience, I bent alignment tabs a little after assembly, so wooden trim cannot fall out on it's own.
Snap that assembly back and everything is fixed.
Again, this is my recollection from few years ago, so it may be some variations of the procedure.
Good luck

Default Overhead console trim removal.

Thank you for that info. I’m not trying to remove the entire electrical system up there. I’m wanting to gently remove that plastic woodgrain cover since it is already hanging loose and reattaching it somehow. I need to look at it to see how it is attached once I get it down. If it’s just clips and they’re not broken, maybe I can put a dab of glue on each one and push it back up. My concern is I don’t know it is attached. If any of the clips on the wood piece are still intact I don’t want to break them. Maybe I should try and find a photo of that wood trim piece and see how it is constructed.

Wooden piece is just adhered to plastic. The tab stickling through it, you can see the tab in your picture is an alignment feature to align wooden piece to plastic piece.
When adhesive gives in, it gives in from one side first. on one morning you will find this wooden piece one your gear shift counsel, when adhesive will give up completely.
You can try to glue it in, after you will scrape old adhesive off, It did not worked for me: I do not have enough patience.
