Default 2004 XJ8 Xenon Leveller Motor?

Hi Folks,

I believe my outboard (dipped) headlamp leveller motors are dead. My low beams were quite low, as in straight down, so I adjusted the lamps with the screw, up to where they should be.

Only now, the inboard (high) beams light up the tree tops, leaving a dark void where I'd really like to see ahead of me!

Is there a fuse I can check, and if so, where is it? Do I need to remove the headlamp assemblies to test / replace the motors? It seems that the fascia includes the front bumper cover...

If the motors are unreliable, is there a procedure to adjust the dead motors in a somewhat better position permanently? I'd rather not fork over a grand each for new, unlevelled lamp assemblies.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Rob

Hmm, I wouldn't have thought both would fail together, so it looks as if it's further back than the motors. However, later cars eliminated the electric motors because the air suspension auto-levels the car, so no other adjustment is necessary.

There could be a bad connection. Have you looked at the earths behind each headlamp ?
