2004 xjr
So I have been looking for an STR for a while now, but today found a fully loaded 2004 XJR with 105 thousand miles full service history and super clean for $13995. This looks good to me, any thoughts? The car looks to have been corporate transport for the first 4 yrs then privately owned. I have another question the dealer has listed the car as an XJR but the title says XJR-S, I thought that there was no such thing as a 2004 XJR-S. my brother in law who works for ford and has JAGS says that the car could of been a special order as it went straight the Company who owned it first and not to a dealer for sale. I have experience with jags, we own an XK and the car would not be a daily driver.
Any thoughts would be great.

I just bought a very clean 2004 and knew that I would have to spend a little money to bring it back to perfect, so I offered $11,250 and got it.
Irritating little problems, like the glove box and arm rest box catches and am still trying to work out how to program the radio to my favorite stations.
Lovely place to sit, and when you put your foot down...

So update viewed car really straight but there where things wrong. All the wheels need renovating, and it needs at least one head lamp($1400) also even though I travelled 150 miles to view found out the car was serviced for the last 4 yrs at my local dealers 10 mins from my house. Went straight from Charlotte to leith Cary and found out the car had a full service history and not only a new compressor in Nov 2011 but all the suspension bags and brake rotors and pads replaceda total of about $5000 spent! Have offered $12500. So have I low balled? My dealers says even with the work $13000 tops.

Beat him down by looking at the tyres. I have aftermarket wheels on mine, so the cost is significantly lower and I still spent $1,323 on a complete set of 97Ys.
Problems fixed so far.
Center arm rest catch (self)
Tyres, I thought I could just do rears but the front tyres were worn on the inside wall, through to fabric.
Head Liner. The UK adhesive and foam, doesn't stand up well to the Texas heat.
Windshield wipers, WOW, I was not prepared for that cost.
Full detail to get rid of spilled food etc.
Still to fix, the sagging glove box where the catch on one side does not engage.
Cost so far, $2,100 +tax and title, and I still have to get the oil changed and fluids checked.

Ok George, let me look at the photo's tonight and I will talk to my friend that used to be an NJ cop on how I could get to you. I notice that you could do a transit plate so getting home is ok but getting to you could be a problem. I would not like to travel to you by plane to be disappointed. I dragged my wife to Florida and did that and know she won't drive with me long distance for a car anymore. What is you local airport and do you take cards at the dealership as won't carry cash. 919-561-1299

I am from the UK too, but after decades living in Texas my attitude has changed. When I revisit the UK, I tend to drive about 2,000 miles in two weeks, trying to see everyone.
A long drive for me, is Houston/Atlanta, of Houston/LA.
It is a bit better now with a lot of the states moving the speed limit on rural Interstates up to 70 and 80, when it was 55, it was mind-numbing, especially the drive from Houston to Miami, where the are no bends and only two hills in about 1,200 miles.
Sorry for hijacking the thread.
