New to me 2004 XJR (USA). One key and one fob.
1. Key is very worn but works for the ignition. Does not lock doors. Door lock feels "sloppy".
2. Power locks DO work using the door handle when sitting inside the car.
3. RF Fob has brand new battery, has been cleaned and tested to confirm transmitting at 315 mhz. Using the XK8 method I know to work (and is supposedly the same), it will not program. [Full beam on, key to I / four (or five) beam flashes / five fob presses]. No sounds from security system at all.
Result. Car is unlocked all the time. Not good!

1. Are the (mechanical parts of the) door lock fixable? (Am planning on a new key cut to help.)
2. Any ideas on getting the fob to be recognized and programmed?
