2005 Super V8 burps gas at end of fill-up

2005 Super V8 burps gas at end of fill-up
Good evening,
I have a 2005 Super V8 with 122k miles. A year or two ago, probably around 110k miles, the car started burping out about a cup of fuel at the end of filling up, when the gas station's pump clicks off. Eventually this caused the lens of the marker light under the filler neck to fall off. I replaced the light today so I'd like to avoid this in the future. Has anyone had this issue, or know where to start looking for a cause? It fills just fine, and this had not been an issue previously so I assume something has deteriorated or broken.
