Thanks, Nick
Mine is a 2007. It needed the module from Arnott to remove the CATS error and yellow light on the dashboard, but that simply connects to certain wires in the plug that was removed from the air suspension module. I think it simply provides the resistance that is expected from the CATS solenoids in the struts, and that resistance is actually monitored elsewhere, not the actual air suspension module, which is completely unplugged. I have no idea how you can be getting levelling errors if the air suspension module is unplugged.

Thanks wfooshee - not sure either! One thing I did read is you need to disconnect the battery before you plug out the air suspension module, otherwise it still registers. Illogical but apparently that's the case. I'm sure my mechanic did. But I'm checking with him. Or maybe I've a later year software - I've v34.95 and I do know the gearbox software was reflashed several years back. He's just replied saying it was just a gearbox re-learn procedure. So I probably do have the 2005 MY software in the car

XF and S-Type use the same pattern shock mounts, all you do is take a step drill bit and walk the holes towards the center.

s-type v6 shocks can’t take a full set of passengers without looking like an overloaded lada. diesel XF is your best bet

Hi Thanks - xalty - yes got the diesel S-Type ones in. Thanks for the advice. Got an issue with the electronics though - still getting the air suspension error codes - see my earlier posts.

Hi - I didn't think any of them had the door rub strips, here it is. It's a late MY2005, VIN ends G48694

it’s absolutely an early x356, brakes and no rub strips are in instant giveaway. all the relevant parts start with 5w93

Hi Nick,
I concur with Xalty that your car seems to be an early X356, at least from the picture you sent, and as such it may be that it needs the additional module.

It seems that the VIN is not a 100% giveaway, apologies if I created confusion!
Unfortunately, it can happen,a nd not only with Jaguar, but with other brands, as well, that in transitions the parts installed in a car during manufacturing are not officially compatible with the VIN.

To show you the difference between your car and the early ones, here's a picture of my early SV8. The differences are subtle (look at the front wing and the doors), not as evident as in the change from X356 to X358...

Best regards,

Thomas

Please tell me more about 'make sure you pulled the right fuses and you have an air suspension CAN link dtc flagged in the ecm' - what do you mean please?

HI Thomas-S -
Thanks so it seems I have a X356. Looking at the software history it was updated in Sept 2006 - so maybe that means I have a later generation of software.
I'm having trouble switching off the 'vehicle too low' and 'air suspension fault' dash messages - and orange & red light. We've removed fuses F6 in the engine compartment, F12 and F52 in the boot but to no avail.
I haven't tried a full software reset but not sure that will clear the codes.
Does this mean I'm going to have to do something with resistors or get the Arnotts plug in (if they will sell it separately).
Thanks

Hi Wfooshee,
It appears I have an X356 and the software in it was last updated in Sept 2006. So that could be the issue.
Do you know if Arnotts will sell the module separately?

They will not.

If they did, they'd never sell any struts; People would buy the cheap struts elsewhere and get the module from Arnott.
