Hello, 56k on my 05 VDP ... few days ago heard a 'whining / whirring' sound develop. Using the ole' 'screwdriver' method, seems to be 100 pct. coming from Alternator. Charges fine.. most likely the bearing..which I'm surprised with the relatively Low mileage.
Looking for info on how difficult to change out ? Trying to avoid expensive dealer refit and replacement part cost.
I've noticed a few threads on XJ Alt. replacements..but, older models so:
1. Best aftermarket choice ? Ive seen 'Denso' mentioned as OEM..would that be true on the 05 as well ?
2. Are there any step by step instructions / links from the site?
