2005 XJR in the garage
Hey all I'm new here, just bought an XJR supercharged with 100k miles on it. The previous owner had some custom work done to it (removed the cats, replaced the air suspension among other things). When I drove it home it ran like an absolute dream (over 100 mile trip). It sat outside for a couple of days in a cold climate. I went to start it and got the restricted performance warning. The owner had a obd reader hooked up to it and it began throwing the cylinder misfire codes. I had it towed to a garage and it's been there 2 weeks with no news. The last I heard is they think it could be an electrical issue? I got a lot of great information from this board and decided to join. Should I be worried? Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks for the reply! I told the garage it was burning gas and that I thought it may be a fuel injector issue. I live in a somewhat rural area and am concerned they may not know how to service it.
You need to get a jaguar specific code reader.
Then get involved fixing things yourself !!!.
Or have a lot of cash to throw at the problems that will arise.
Both of mine had less than a hundred thousand miles, in nice shape.
But both were in need of a lot of catch up maintenance.
With suspension replacement parts topping the list in price.

I have two, icarsoft i930, Foxwell NT530, the Foxwell is more advanced.
But icarsoft is older, & there is a newer more advanced model available.
At the moment i'm acquiring a laptop with the V130 software.
To go with my Drew Technologies, Mongoose Pro, Vehicle Interface Cable.
Was lucky to find the Drew Mongoose cable.
Genuine Mongoose cables, are a rare find, or so i have read.

The garage is now saying the oil was overfilled and they think it may have ruined the supercharger. Is that even possible?

Unless it was filled when off the car and at a steep angle it VERY difficult to overfill the SC.
Even if it was overfilled it probably would be just fine in my opinion. Do what meirion1 suggests!
