Default 2006 Jaguar XJ8 Fog Light - Any Way to Remove Outer Cover?

Hello. I have a 2006 Jaguar XJ8 and I discovered that the passenger-side fog lamp get water in it. As a result, it does not work (or the bulb is blown). I know how to remove the lamp and get to the light. However, is there a way to take off the clear outer casing (the front facing case that covers the light, but allows the light to shine through) so I can clean the inside of this and reseal it against moisture? Here's a screen shot (not mine):

I'd like to remove the cover the arrow is pointing to. I didn't want to mess with it too much and crack it before checking here.

That sounds really risky. Care to explain a bit more? What is the goal here? To loosen the adhesive that is causing the clear lens to stick to the rest of the unit? Sorry ... I just don't want to totally destroy this piece.

See if you can remove the rear part of the housing and remove the bulb.

With the rear open to the atmosphere gently warm the glass from the outside with

a hair drier or similar so that the moisture evaporates.

Reassemble the rear part(s) and leave for a few hours in case

the moisture reappears and you need to repeat.

That's not going to work, but thank you. It's pretty bad inside the lens. The water I poured out was brown and it left a brown stain on the inside of the lens. I want to completely clean the inside, if possible, so that it looks decent. The photo above, as stated, is not from my lens.

EDIT - But that gave me an idea! Maybe I can take the housing (sans bulb), fill it with soapy water and slosh that around like crazy in an attempt to get the dirt out. Then let it dry before reassembly.

If you are going to clean the reflector you need to be very careful, the reflecting layer is very easy to rub off

Well, took mine off, twisted off the back to get at the bulb, and found that the thing had been filled with water and MUD. Not only that, one of the wires (not the one to the bulb) was starting to strip down to bare wire. As I looked at the inside, I could see that half the reflective surface was blackened and there was dried mud stuck in places. Even after rinsing it out and messing with it a bit, there was no way this was going to be a decent unit. Time to get a replacement ...
