Angry 2007 XJ8L Chime Issue

I'm having a warning chime issue on my 07 Jag XJ8L. It started suddenly. When the car is in forward or reverse motion the chime alarm sounds. When the car stops the chime alarm stops. It's very annoying if you have to drive any distance. I don't know if it's the seat belt chime or the door chime. I get no warning lights or messages indicating a problem. Has anyone had this problem and if so any possible fixes?? Any help would be appreciated.

Only 55 Views and 0 Replies since you posted this question in General Tech Help so I've moved it to X350 forum where members with the same model will see it.

My first thought is it could be the seat belt reminder chime caused by a faulty Hall Effect sensor in the seat belt buckle not sensing when the belt "tongue" is correctly inserted.

If it were the seatbelt or the door I'm thinking you would either have a seatbelt light or a door ajar message.

But since it sounds like you have neither, perhaps it's the parking sensors? That I've doesn't have an accompanying light. Are the tones the same whether going forwards or backwards? Always the same tempo, or does it vary?

I haven't tried it without the seat belt unbuckled. The chime sounds constantly when the car is moving. Not intermitant. Can the Hall sensor be replaced or do I have to replace the buckle?

The tones are the same forward & backwards. Same tempo and no variance. The parking sensors have a different sound and tone.

Try resetting the system. Remove negative battery terminal and hold on positive terminal for 5 seconds. Reattach negative terminal. Might work....
