Ok. I have a 2004 XJ8 (X350). runs fine however I got an ABS light, no DSC message, and a check engine light. I have IDS/SDD 1.31 and the following codes are present.
P1000 system check not completed since last memory clear
P1582 throttle monitor data available
C1175 wheel speed test left input - circuit failure
U2603 incomplete ring no fault report received
C1742 rear sounder circuit failure
U3FF8 no description available
U3FFA no description available
P0231 fuel pump secondary circuit low
I'm thinking something has happened to the left rear speed sensor or ring but upon visual inspection all looked ok. I unplugged and replugged the sensor to no avail.
As far as I know, I do not have parking assist so I do not understand why I'm getting a sounder code.
I have tried to clear all the codes but they never go away in my version of IDS/SDD. Of course, I'm an amateur when using the software. I just kind of fumble along. It's not very intuitive. I also have an unrelated code of loose air intake that I fixed months ago that still hasn't been cleared and I've requested it cleared a dozen times or more.
I guess my questions are these:
1. Does anyone have any insight on the ABS, DSC, and check engine light? Is this as simple as replacing a sensor? The sensor is $120 USD so don't want to buy it unless absolutely certain it's the problem. The car runs great. No restricted performance. In fact, without the DSC, it's actually quite wicked and absolutely melts the tires and tries to go sideways when you stomp it.
2. Does anyone know how to remove a hard/permanent code in IDS/SDS 1.31?
3. While using IDS/SDS, I have noticed a lot of missing functionality. I got the software from JLR Mongoose with my cable but it's missing things like how to setup key fobs, etc. If I try to run something, I get an error saying it's not available and a bunch of gibberish. Anyone have any ideas or maybe a complete set of software that I can get a copy of?
Have you checked the battery voltage? I suspect that most problems are due to undervoltage, and that starts at 12.3 V.
I recommend to measure and charge the battery or replace if necessary.
Even with a well charged battery, a SDD session should be connected to a battery supply, preferably with at least 25A or more.
You can test the wheel sensor with a multimeter with oscilloscope function. or simply change on the same axis from left to right. If the error moves along, the cause is most likely the wheel sensor.
SDD should run directly under XP and not in a VM. You can do the simple options coding with it, it works fine. When programming ECUs for e.g. new keys I would be very careful. With a clone interface and without battery suply, this can be a big mess ending in an immobilised vehicle.
i have a 75 amp backup power supply so that's not an issue. I have attached a picture of my rolling diagnostic machine that I built after I bought the Jag. As far as glitches in the software, I think i just have a defective copy so I would love to find someone who's willing to share a copy that completely works.
I will remove the speed sensor today and inspect the wires better to see if I can determine it's a sensor. I really don't see how a magnetic sensor could go bad when the is no moving parts.
Nice little diagnostic cart! I've not had luck with running SDD in a virtual machine, instead I use a later version on my laptop. The ABS sensors do go bad on occasion (I've replaced one of the fronts on my car), although I've also read of the tone rings potentially being an issue on the rear axles. Aftermarket ABS sensors will work just fine, and cost significantly less. The P1000 code is normal, don't worry about it. The P1582 code won't clear when doing a code clear with SDD or any other code scanning tool. That code is accessed and cleared through the data recorder function in SDD.
Hi Paul,
I'm running a clean install of windows 7. Never upgraded, never connected to internet. I tried the virtual route and could never get it to work that's why I bought the dedicated tablet. I ordered the windows 7 OS direct from Panasonic.
Would you be willing to make me a copy of your version 1.59? I'll gladly pay you. I was so disappointed when I received my version 1.31 because all I really wanted to do was redo my key fobs and the software was missing that module or whatever. Since then, I've noticed it is missing practically everything useful. Can't do any of the recommended options because it's missing things.
BTW, I ordered me two ABS rear wheel speed sensors from carparts.com for $38 USD plus shipping. Sure beats the Jaguar dealer price of over $200 each! I'll let everyone know if this was actually the problem. Until then my baby is sitting in the yard forlorn. I'm going to have to drive the Ford Crown Victoria police car that I bought at auction. It's definitely a step down but I can't fault the crown Victorias for their dependability.
