I know some of the techs have mentioned air bags are one of the few problem areas the 04 and up XJs have, well i saw this one on ebay and was wondering if they all would look like this or is this even the failure?

Sitting on its wheels lime that indicates a problem.
Those arent the correct wheels for the car. They are base model 2004 wheels. Didnt come on the 2006.

No they arent all that obvious. Look under the car at the shocks. If you see them wet or caked with crud, indicates a leak. Sometimes the leak isn't enough to overcome the compressor so it stays level.

They arent all leakers though. If that is all that is stopping you from buying one.....don't let it. They are a nice car. I prefer your 7 personally...lol. Although I would get the XJ due to my ability to fix it. I would go for SuperV8 though. Nice car.
