Today I did my air induction service on my XJ8L. Overall, a fairly easy job.

Tools needed:

phillips head screwdriver
flat tip screwdriver

Steps:

1. Remove engine cover using the phillips head screwdriver. The cover has four quick release screws. Note: you also have to remove the oil cap.

2. Loosen both hose clamps of the tube running from the air cleaner to the throttle body with the flat tip screwdriver.

3. Pull the tube end from the throttle body.

4. Spray throttle body cleaner on throttle body inside and butterfly as needed. I also opened the butterfly and sprayed cleaner on inside of throttle body.

5. Loosen the two caps of air cleaner box and open the box to remove old air cleaner element.

6. Install new air cleaner element and tighten the air cleaner box lid.

7. Put tube back on throttle body.

8. Tighten both hose clamps.

9. Install the engine cover.

10. Start engine. Note: engine will hesitate until the throttle body cleaner is burned up.
